EastEnders legend returns and drops a bombshell on their family
Devastation strikes another family in Albert Square.
CANCER fears are sparked once again in Walford as Alfie Moon returns after weeks away.
The EastEnders legend played by Shane Richie is met with questions upon his comeback and he drops a massive bombshell.
Alfie Moon was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year and received the full support of an unexpected ally, Phil Mitchell (played by Steve McFadden).
The Walford baddie tried to push Alfie to come to terms with his condition while being present for his son Tommy Moon.
After struggling to cope, Alfie agreed to undergo surgery for his cancer but then told Phil he needed to recover from his operation in Spain.
As mentioned above, Alfie left the Square in late September and hasn’t been heard from since.
Viewers were terrified they may have seen the last of Alfie but soap bosses assured the beloved character would return and they have kept their promise.
In scenes due to air next week on BBC One, Alfie finally comes back to Walford and he immediately heads to the hospital.
Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) is by his side as he waits for his PSA results to determine if his cancer is truly gone.
What will he find out?
This remains to be seen as Alfie has a lot of explaining to do when his ex-wife Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) tears into him for his disappearing act.
However, she soon softens when Alfie completely opens up to her.
What will she do?
Alfie isn’t the only man in Kat’s life to keep secrets from her as her husband Phil remains worried she could uncover what he has been hiding himself.
As regular viewers of the London-based program will recall, Phil slept with Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit) shortly before his wedding to Kat Slater and Alfie knows all about it.
Next week, Kat comforts Alfie at No.55 but could it lead to anything more?
Could Alfie tell her what Phil has been up to?
Later on, Kat and Alfie head to Walford East where he reveals his prostate cancer diagnosis to Tommy (Sonny Kendall).
Phil then accosts Alfie about Emma, terrified his secret could be revealed.
However, Alfie insists he has no interest in telling Kat anything given his current situation.
Will he keep his word?
EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
