EastEnders spoilers: Death trauma for Reiss as he receives devastating news
Poor Reiss is left completely devastated.
What started off as a good day for Sonia Fowler and Reiss Colwell (Natalie Cassidy and Jonny Freeman) in EastEnders ended in tragic circumstances when Reiss received a call from the hospital.
Things started off positive for the couple, who recently started their IVF journey in the hopes of having a baby together, following the revelation that Reiss was unable to naturally conceive.
While enjoying a drink in the Queen Vic with Rocky and Kathy (Brian Conley and Gillian Taylforth), Reiss revealed that he and Sonia had been to the clinic where she had been given a trigger shot.
This meant that, after 36 hours of injecting the shot, they would be able to retrieve Sonia’s eggs, ready to start the process of fertilising them.
After getting home, Sonia suggested that they have a romantic evening together to help them relax before administering the injection, something that she wanted Reiss to be part of.
He agreed, and soon Sonia had put on her best nightgown and was sprinkling the stairs with rose petals.
Little did she know, Reiss was taking a frantic phone call in the kitchen, where he received bad news.
He was quick to tell Sonia that it had been the hospital on the phone informing him that wife Debbie had contracted another infection and that they weren’t sure she was going to pull through this time.
Viewers will know that Reiss’ wife Debbie is in a coma, having had a stroke in the bath.
Though Sonia was horrified at first to discover that Reiss is still married, she soon became supportive and agreed to sit with him during visits to see Debbie.
With Debbie’s future uncertain, Reiss suggested that they quickly do the trigger shot, but Sonia explained that she didn’t want to rush it.
Reiss had no idea what to do, so Sonia urged him to go and be with his wife, promising that the trigger shot could wait.
Will Debbie pull through, or will Reiss be left heartbroken?
