BBC EastEnders Kathy Beale’s Christmas fate sealed: Champagne bottle to picture frame
EastEnders is lining up an explosive Christmas Day whodunnit where one person, potentially more, will be killed off in dramatic scenes with the BBC One soap dropping plenty of hints
EastEnders viewers are eagerly awaiting Christmas Day as the hit BBC One soap is set to air an explosive whodunnit festive murder.
Earlier this year, in a soap first, the hit BBC One show released a flashforward glimpse at the dramatic scenes with six women – Denise Fox, Kathy Beale, Linda Carter, Sharon Watts, Stacey Slater and Suki Panesar – faced with a mystery dead man at the Queen Vic.
Since then, EastEnders has released explosive trailers for each of the six women, dropping clues left, right and centre while they have also confirmed the potential victims in a line-up of seven. These characters are Phil Mitchell, Keanu Taylor, Ravi Gulati, Dean Wicks, Nish Panesar, Rocky Cotton and Jack Branning.

On Monday night, Kathy and Rocky took centre stage as the latter’s web of lies were finally exposed. Soap watchers will recall that Rocky recently staged a fire at his wife Kathy’s cafe as he continued to struggle with debt problems due to his gambling addiction. In recent scenes, Nish, who Rocky owes serious debt too, pressured him to sell the cafe to him in a bid to pay off his money.
After getting advice from Harvey, Rocky planned to come clean but Kathy decided to hear Nish’s deal before speaking to her partner. After much deliberation, Kathy decided to sell the café to Nish. However, the Albert Square villain couldn’t resist stirring the pot as he implied Rocky was responsible for the fire.
Kathy then sought the truth from Harvey, who basically confirmed her suspicions, and she then furiously confronted Rocky who finally admitted everything. A livid Kathy ordered Rocky out of her life, realising their relationship was finally over. With Kathy and Rocky both confirmed in the line-up this Christmas, we take a look at all of the clues that could mean Kathy’s the killer…
Champagne bottle
In the Christmas flashfoward, Denise can be seen holding a smashed bottle of Champagne, which hints it could be the murder weapon. And during Monday’s episode, Rocky was seen holding a Champagne bottle while talking to Kathy in a potential clue. Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “Rocky holding the champagne bottle up to Kathy #EastEnders” with an eyes emoji.

Picure frame
The BBC One soap has released individual trailers for each of the six, which offers hints and clues for each of the women. In Suki’s trailer, it sees her smashing a family photo frame before running away, could she have hit controlling husband Nish with the frame before he starts chasing her and they both find themselves in the Queen Vic?
And on Monday’s episode, Kathy smashed her wedding photo with Rocky in a glass frame in anger over his lies. One eagle-eyed soap fan wrote: “In suki’s trailer her family picture broke. now kathy’s smashed her and rocky’s wedding picture…. possibly connected ?? #EastEnders.”
Telling look
In the Christmas flashforward, Suki is seen sitting down in shock while a shellshocked Kathy stares at her before looking back at the body. Could this be hinting the dead body is Suki’s husband Nish?
