EastEnders star Max Bowden emerges from wrecked Mercedes CLA after a lucky escape from crunching three-car collision
It is unclear what caused the collision
EASTENDERS actor Max Bowden had a lucky escape from a crunching three-car collision.
The star, 28, who plays Ben Mitchell in the BBC soap, appeared shocked as he emerged from his wrecked Mercedes CLA in the middle of the day.
Passers-by were also stunned when they saw him and his smashed-up motor, which was left with its front bumper hanging off and is believed to be a write-off.
Onlooker Jack Hanlon, 32, told The Sun: “It was all very fast.
“We just saw this car was absolutely demolished and then my girlfriend said, ‘Is that Ben Mitchell?’.
“He looked pretty stunned by the whole thing.
“He must have been pretty badly shaken up.”
A Surrey Police spokeswoman said: “We were called to a collision involving three vehicles in Sunbury-on-Thames on Friday.
“The collision occurred around 1.10pm just off the Sunbury Cross roundabout and involved a red Mazda, a black Mercedes and a grey Kia.
“There were no injuries or arrests resulting from the incident.”
It is unclear what caused the collision.
Max, who lives in Woking, Surrey, and will celebrate his 29th birthday next week on New Year’s Eve, joined EastEnders in 2019.
He is the sixth actor to play Ben Mitchell, and won the ‘Soap Superstar’ award at the Inside Soap Awards in September.
