EastEnders’ Jamie Borthwick has finally addressed the romance rumours surrounding him and two former co-stars.

Actress Danielle Harold recently left her role as Lola Pearce, who died after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

In an incredibly moving and emotional storyline, the BBC One soap highlighted everything from Lexi’s (Isabella Brown) reaction to her mum’s news, to Lola and Jay’s final trip to the seaside.

Jamie (Jay Brown)and Danielle spent a lot of time together during Danielle’s final few months on the show and because of their on-screen chemistry as Jay and Lola, as well as their closeness off the screen, rumours began to circulate over whether Jamie and Danielle had started a relationship.

Ahead of his festive Strictly Come Dancing appearance – which he ended up winning alongside pro Nancy Xu – Jamie confirmed that his relationship withDanielle and actress Jazzy Phoenix (who played sex worker called Nadine) is purely platonic.

He told The Mirror: ‘They linked me with Jazzy and they linked me with Danielle. I’m just surprised they haven’t linked me with Nancy [Xu]!” he said.

Previously responding to the comments, Danielle recently said: ‘I’m just going to leave that one out there, because it’s soo funny. It makes me laugh so much, I’d hate to squash it!’

Continuing her chat with Fabulous Magazine, Danielle revealed: ‘I always say Jamie is the husband I never wanted or asked for, but nonetheless got.

‘Seriously though, there’s no one like that at the moment. But I’ve been so busy, it’s probably for the best’, she added.

‘I’ve got no time, which is something to feel really lucky about.’

During the EastEnders Christmas special, Lola shocks Jay and Honey, as she reveals they will run next year’s London Marathon in a wholesome clip.

But can they do it?
