Bobby Brazier burst onto our screens as the loveable Freddie Slater in EastEnders in 2022, but a dramatic series of events saw the character depart the Square in October last year.
After finally learning who his real dad was, Freddie was devastated to learn that Graham Foster wasn’t all he said he was, as Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) revealed that he had raped Freddie’s mum, Little Mo.
Reeling from the discovery and Graham’s failure to take any responsibility for his crime, Freddie was later horrified to walk in on sinister stalker Theo Hawthorne attempting to rape Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner).
In a bid to protect her, Freddie grabbed an iron and began to beat Theo, leaving him unconscious and bleeding on the kitchen floor.
He was later arrested for Theo’s attempted murder, and after being released on bail, agreed to spend a few months staying with Little Mo.
Freddie’s exit was to facilitate actor Bobby’s latest career venture: a stint on Strictly Come Dancing, in which he reached the final with partner Dianne Buswell.
Following the popular series, he joined the Strictly tour, which is soon set to come to an end, meaning EastEnders fans won’t have long to wait before Freddie’s return.
‘I’m going back,’ Bobby confirmed to OK! Magazine. ‘I really miss it at the minute. I can’t wait to go back.’
However, during his next stint on the show, the young actor has vowed to do things a bit differently to make the most of his experience.
‘I do look forward to being on set again. I’m going to take some more time to learn my lines a little bit better. And, as I say, be good at what I do.’
And it isn’t just his work on EastEnders that Bobby wants to focus on, as he revealed his eagerness to gain ‘experience across the board’.
‘For me, maybe it’s a time of sacrifice. It’s not jumping at the things that look all glittery and last 10 minutes, but it’s doing small jumps around the right people, where I can learn how to be a good actor, how to be a good dancer, maybe a good singer, and just become good for what I do. Credible as opposed to just riding a five-minute wave,’ he explained.
‘I have the intention of learning how to become the best storyteller I can be.
‘The next couple of years is just about getting experience across the board. So maybe doing some theatre, maybe doing some film, maybe learning how to sing. Maybe doing some more dancing.’
