EastEnders viewers are eagerly awaiting Christmas Day as the hit BBC One soap is set to air an explosive whodunnit festive murder.

Earlier this year, in a soap first, the hit BBC One show released a flashforward glimpse at the dramatic scenes with six women – Denise Fox, Kathy Beale, Linda Carter, Sharon Watts, Stacey Slater and Suki Panesar – faced with a mystery dead man at the Queen Vic.

Since then, EastEnders has released explosive trailers for each of the six women, dropping clues left, right and centre while they have also confirmed the potential victims in a line-up of seven. These characters are Phil Mitchell, Keanu Taylor, Ravi Gulati, Dean Wicks, Nish Panesar, Rocky Cotton and Jack Branning.

It has been confirmed that one person is set to die but viewers are convinced there’s a second death after a slew of clues on the hit BBC One soap. As we near the deadly Christmas episode, we take a look at all of the clues ahead of the big reveal…

Separate scene

In the flashforward, Linda is seen walking into the room while the other five women were already present, hinting she might actually not be involved with the big murder. In the scene, Linda is seen with a bust lip, could she have been involved in a separate scuffle upstairs and is the person dead?

Cryptic trailer

The hit BBC One soap has released individual trailers for each of the six, which offers hints and clues for each of the women. In Linda’s individual trailer, she appears to be upstairs in the Queen Vic scrubbing a floor, could she be responsible for a second murder upstairs? And is it evil enemy and rapist Dean?

Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “Kathy and Linda kill Dean upstairs, Denise and Stacey kill Ravi downstairs. That is my prediction. #EastEnders”, a different account put: “Two bodies Linda kills Dean upstairs then walks in to see either Keanu or Nish on the floor of the Vic” while another added: “Linda kills Dean upstairs she then comes down to the murder scene which I think is Nish as Suki and Eve can never be together and safe while he’s alive #sixmas #Sukeve #EastEnders.”

Music twist

Only recently on the soap, in a surprising turn of events, Dean and Keanu ended up having a row. They had crossed paths earlier in the episode and had some words to say to one another. After provoking him, Keanu saw red and went to attack Dean but Sharon warned him that it wouldn’t be worth it.

However, eagle eyed fans noticed something very important playing in the background of the Queen Vic – the song Stay Another Day. The song also features in the flashforward scene, that was aired to fans back in February. So does this prove that both Keanu and Dean die this Christmas in a shocking double murder twist?

Taking to social media, one fan noted the song, writing: “Did anyone else catch the music while Dean and Keanu were arguing in the pub?” whilst a second person added: “#EastEnders STAY ANOTHER DAY AS KEANU AND DEAN ARGUE. F*** OFF. ITS ONE OF THEM TWO.”

EastEnders star’s clue

Matt Di Angelo, who plays Dean, has teased there could be more than one Christmas death – as multiple cufflinks arrive in EastEnders. Speaking about the big Christmas storyline, Matt teased: “If anyone deserves to wear the cufflinks, its Dean, but I think the more people that have those cufflinks in the lead up to Christmas, the better…”

Chris Clenshaw – the soap’s executive producer – previously teased there could be more pairs of cufflinks. Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, the soap boss said: “You’re going to be guessing right up until the very last moment”, adding: “Keep your eyes peeled as they may not be the only pair [of cufflinks] come Christmas…”
