BBC EastEnders fans ‘don’t get it’ as two main characters ‘disappear’ after Christmas death

EastEnders fans were left scratching their heads after noticing that two main characters seemed to have disappeared from Walford completely after the Christmas Day murder

EastEnders fans were baffled when they noticed two residents seemingly vanished from the soap after the Christmas Day murder.

Fans finally found out that it was Keanu Taylor who was killed in the Queen Vic on Christmas Day. The mechanic was strangling his bride Sharon Watts when Linda Carter stabbed him in the back with a knife.

The grisly event was seen by Stacey Slater, Suki Kaur Panesar, Kathy Beale and Denise Fox, the other members of The Six. And on Boxing Day, the women desperately tried to hide Keanu’s body and cover up the killing.

But fans have been wondering what on earth has happened to Phil Mitchell and Jack Branning, who were both in the running to be killed off by The Six before Christmas, when speculation was rife. They rushed to social media to ask why they weren’t appearing in recent scenes.

One fan on X wrote: “Things I’ve noticed: Jack and Phil have been completely AWOL since Xmas day.” Another agreed: “I don’t understand why Jack & Phil featured in the promo pictures leading up to the Christmas Day episode? They were nowhere near any of it!”

A third commented: “I’ve heard that Steve McFadden (Phil) is meant to be in Panto at the moment – that could explain the lack of screen time in the aftermath of Xmas day. We haven’t seen Jack at all since Xmas day and I’m shocked about the lack of Sharon scenes too.”

Jack and Phil joined Nish Panesar, Tom ‘Rocky’ Cotton, Dean Wicks and Ravi Gulati in the promo pics teasing their demise. Although Rocky turned up at the pub drunk after the crime occurred, he and the others survived.

Luckily though, Phil isn’t going anywhere as he’s due to appear in scenes with Hollywood star Alan Ford, who will play his estranged dad Stevie Mitchell. Stevie will be seen for the first time in the next few weeks and is said to appear at Aunt Sal’s funeral.
