BBC EastEnders fans ‘rumble’ Jay ‘death’ twist and it’s ‘not the car crash’ as star ‘confirms’ exit

BBC EastEnders fans are convinced they've figured out a death twist for Jay Brown and it doesn't involve his horror car accident after actor Jamie Borthwick "confirmed" his shock exit

EastEnders viewers are convinced they’ve figured out a death twist for Jay Brown and it doesn’t involve his horror car accident.

It comes as Jay star Jamie Borthwick seemingly announced his exit from the BBC One soap on Wednesday in a now-deleted Instagram post. Jamie, 29, has been at the forefront of some of the biggest storylines on the BBC soap recently, with the tragic death of his on-screen wife Lola Pearce Brown, and it looks like Jay will also be leaving Albert Square if Jamie’s Instagram story is anything to go by.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday in a now-deleted post on his Story, where he shared a young photo of himself and paid tribute to his character, he penned: “RIP Jay, gonna miss you lad. We had a laugh didn’t we.” On Wednesday’s episode, Jay was involved in a harrowing accident after taking drugs and trying to flee to Margate as his life hangs in the balance. With Jamie seemingly confirming that Jay could die in the shocking scenes, some soap fans have taken to social media to share their theories, predicting he will survive the crash but die this Christmas.

Posting to social media, one fan wrote: “What if Jay isnt dead after the accident and instead theyve just filmed the christmas day scenes and hes the body #EastEnders”, a different account put: “Imagine the Christmas body is Jay #EastEnders”, while another soap watcher added: “EastEnders Christmas death what if it’s Jay and the drugs catch up with him?”

Earlier this year, EastEnders released a first look at the 2023 Christmas episode in a flashforward scene in a BBC One soap first where Denise (Diane Parish), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Linda (Kellie Bright), Sharon (Letitia Dean), Stacey and Suki (Balvinder Sopal) were faced with a dead body.

In the moments that unfolded at the Queen Vic, the group of women all stood round in shock in a festive-looking pub and looked down at a man, wearing amber cufflinks, lying dead on the floor. Not much was said between the group, but Stacey was covered in blood, Denise was holding a smashed bottle of Champagne and Sharon wore a bloodied wedding dress as she leant over the body.

Ever since the scenes aired, eagle-eyed soap fans have been looking for clues as to who the dead body could be with the likes of Keanu Taylor, Phil Mitchell, Dean Wicks, Nish Panesar, Ravi Gulati, Theo Hawthorne and Dean Wicks just a few of the names tipped to be the victim this Christmas. But with Jamie teasing his soap exit, could Jay be the dead body?
