Former EastEnders star Danny Dyer has reacted to the news Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) has returned.

The actor left his role as Mick Carter – aka Dean’s secret brother – last December. Following a showdown with Linda (Kellie Bright) and Janine (Charlie Brooks), Mick was swept out to sea.

Due to the fact we haven’t actually seen a dead body, there is every chance Mick will return in the future but for the Carter family, they are under the impression Mick has died.

With Linda now all alone, she is often reminded of her beloved Mick and this week, that came in the form of a pub Halloween party.

Joined by the Knight family and mum Elaine (Harriet Thorpe), Linda dressed up ready for the evening – but it took a terrifying turn.

Upstairs after putting Ollie to bed, Linda was given a huge fright when Dean Wicks – who raped her – walked into the kitchen.

The character is back in Walford due to the fact his daughter, Jade, is unwell and staying in a hospital near there.

To earn money, Dean has also invested in Cindy (Michelle Collins) and Ian’s (Adam Woodyatt) new food business which has already developed a bad reputation due to Dean’s name – and it hasn’t even opened yet!

The Albert Square residents were shocked to see Dean again and the same emotion was reflected in a Instagram comment from Danny Dyer recently, who quite simply put ‘WTF!!!!!’, in response to Dean coming back.

In typical Dean fashion, the character will play the victim and protest his innocence once more during his comeback, despite having already admitted to raping Linda during a heated showdown with her on New Year’s Eve in 2015.

The rapist, however, never paid for his crimes, having been found not guilty by a court of law, with subsequent scenes seeing him depart Walford after all of his family members disowned him.

With Dean, it’s hard to know whether he accepts the fact that he raped Linda or whether he is so blind to his actions that he doesn’t think he’s done anything wrong,’ admitted Matt. ‘You watch him, and you think, “How can he be so deluded?”

‘But I guess my job as an actor is to try and pick apart his inner psyche to see whether, deep down, he accepts that he’s raped Linda.

‘I don’t think his opinion has changed since we last saw him, and I think that the time that’s passed has only convinced him of his position. That’s what is so complex about him.’
