EastEnders confirms casualties in fire as two major characters are left for dead
EastEnders spoilers follow for Thursday’s (November 9) episode which is now available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
Rocky Cotton (Brian Conley) will have some serious explaining to do after he set a fire at Kathy’s cafe, which endangered a number of lives.
The con-man, who is struggling with a gambling addiction, decided to torch the establishment owned by wife Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) in the hopes of claiming on the insurance.
With the cafe having suffered with dodgy electrics over the past few weeks, Rocky was certain that nobody would suspect arson and thus he deliberately started a fire before setting off to meet Kathy at Walford East for a meal.
What he didn’t bargain for, however, is that Bobby would be out for a stroll and spot the fire through the window.
Horrified by the sight of the blaze, the young man entered the cafe and grabbed a fire extinguisher, urgently trying to get the flames under control.
But a subsequent explosion ripped through the building, illuminating Bridge Street, leaving Bobby in serious danger. News of the fire reached Kathy and Rocky, who swooped into action.
Peter (Thomas Law), meanwhile, raced to Bobby’s aid, with both he and Rocky entering the cafe in a bid to save his life. The duo, however, ended up trapped, with Rocky subsequently losing consciousness.
The firefighters soon arrived, with Rocky later regaining consciousness at the hospital.
Bobby and Peter, however, are both in a bad way, with the conclusion of the episode seeing a heartbroken Kathy confirm to her husband that her grandchildren are fighting for their lives.
