This article contains spoilers from Thursday’s (December 7) EastEnders episode which has NOT yet aired on TV, but is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.

Last night (December 6), EastEnders viewers were left gobsmacked when Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) revealed the Taylors’ involvement in Albie’s kidnap, andtonight provided yet another twist that could change everything.

Viewers will know that Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) was left completely inconsolable when son Albie went missing last month, believing him to have been kidnapped after a ransom note was posted through the door.

Little did she know, it was actually Albie’s dad Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) who was behind the abduction, having staged the kidnapping after his own plan to take Albie away went awry.

The truth remained hidden for quite some time, until Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley) naively paid Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) using some of Phil’s money.

Phil had leant Sharon the cash for the ransom, but not before marking all of the notes.

Already suspicious of Karen’s sudden cash flow, he checked the notes she had given Kat and realised that they were the same ones.

After further digging, Phil was finally certain that the Taylors were behind the abduction, and was quick to announce it in the Queen Vic.

However, with Keanu’s future on the line, Karen made a shocking move: She told everyone that he had had no idea, and that the plan had all been down to her.

This left her facing the brunt of Sharon’s fury, getting a slap in the process, as well as the disgusted reactions of the other Vic patrons.

Elsewhere, Phil was completely furious, and demanded his money back, though Karen refused to give it to him outright, telling him she would give it to him another time, and it soon became clear exactly why.

With Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) devastated by their actions, and the whole Square turning against Karen, she told Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths) that she thought it would be best to keep the money so that they could start fresh elsewhere.

Keanu had managed to convince Sharon not to shop her to the police until the morning, buying Karen some time to escape.

With Karen set to leave the Square in the coming weeks, is this what will finally drive her away?

And will Mitch agree to go with her, or is she set to have a very lonely future?
