EastEnders fans claim The Six murder storyline is identical to hit US show – and predict how it will end
KEANU Taylor was revealed as the Christmas Day murder victim before The Six covered-up their crimes and got rid of the body.
However, some EastEnders fans feel like they have seen the same plot before as the tragic events remind them of a popular US show.
Linda Carter (portrayed by Kellie Bright) went the extra mile when trying to protect her pal Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) from being choked to death by Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters).
In a shocking twist aired on Christmas Day on BBC One, the Vic landlady stabbed the hunk in the back, leaving him to die at the bottom of her own stairs.
The crime scene was immediately cleared up by the Six following the heartthrob’s demise as they all agreed to bury his body under Kathy Beale’s café following its recent fire.
However, history has shown that murders rarely stay underground forever, thus indicating that Keanu’s body will be found sooner or later.
Meanwhile, fans have noticed some very similar parallels between EastEnders and popular US drama Desperate Housewives that aired from 2008 to 2012.
In the eighth and last season, a man was accidentally killed in self defence with a candlestick rather than a wine bottle.
The four main female characters Bree (Marcia Cross), Lynette (Felicity Huffman), Gabrielle (Eva Longoria) and Susan (Teri Hatcher) buried the body in the woods and agreed to never speak of it again.
It was later revealed that there was a witness to their crime, Bree’s ex-husband Orson Hodge (Kyle MacLachlan), and he blackmailed her into being with him or he would send her to prison.
Similarly, BBC viewers have predicted Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) will blackmail Linda as he could be a potential witness to Keanu’s murder as he was shown upstairs.
Taking to Reddit and referring to Desperate Housewives, one viewer asked: “Anyone else having season 8 vibes? The girls all group together after a man has been murdered.”
Another pointed out: “It reminds me of the final desperate housewives season when they all helped cover a murder and Bree’s boyfriend was a cop.”
A third agreed: “This is just like Desperate Housewives.”
A fourth added: “I’ve watched all of Desperate Housewives and there’s definitely a lot of similarities with the six women who are the main characters of Albert Square and their storylines and lives play out significantly more than any other character.”
Can the comparison to Desperate Housewives help fans predict the future twists and turns in the EastEnders plot?
In the US show, detective Chuck (Jonathan Cake) was out for revenge after Bree dumped him and threatened to send the women to jail for their crimes – until he got ran over.
The women also returned to the scene of the crime before a building site was going to dig up the body – but they were too late.
Bree ended up on trial for murder until their elderly neighbour Karen (Kathryn Joosten) confessed to the crime and avoided prison time due to her ill health.
Will DI Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) get involved and help his wife Denise Fox (Diane Parish)?
Will The Six need to move Keanu’s body?
EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
