Fans are convinced they can be resurrected

EASTENDERS fans pleaded with soap bosses to bring back the iconic character seven years after getting killed off.

The sisters were killed off on Ronnie’s wedding day to Jack Branning (Scott Maslen).

The emotional episode started with joy as it appeared Ronnie was finally about to get her happy ending as she prepared to tie the knot to Jack – but it didn’t take long before the big day took a turn for the worse.

After a drunk Roxy decided to take a swim, she soon found herself in trouble.

Ronnie jumped into the pool to save her but the dress weighed her down and the pair met their untimely deaths.

BBC viewers were left devastated as the Mitchell family lost two legendary family members.

And seven years later, fans are still not over it.

Taking to social media, one fan said: “Seeing Ronnie Mitchell all over my timeline now I’m depressed my girl absolutely loved her and will never get over them killing her off.”

Another wrote: “As if it’s been 7 years! Still holding up hope that they will bring them both back because if they can resurrect Cindy then why not Ronnie & Roxy.”

A third added: “7 Years Later we still want Ronnie & Roxy Mitchell to come back.”

Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell arrived on Albert Square in 2007.

Introduced by show producer Diederick Santer, they were the cousins of Phil and Grant Mitchell.

Much hype was made about their arrival and the pair soon took over duties as temporary barmaids for the Queen Vic.

Ronnie then took over the Walford nightclub with her boyfriend Jack, who she eventually went on to marry.

During their time on the show, the pair were involved in explosive storylines.

These included baby swapping, affairs, child abuse, mental illness and drug use.

Both Samantha and Rita quit EastEnders to pursue other projects, but they have differing views on whether their exit came at the right time.

Samantha quit first back in August, with Rita revealing she was leaving a few days later.

EastEnders boss at the time Sean O’Connor, who has since been fired, said the girls were written out as their “characters were exhausted”.
