Rocky Cotton's scheme ends with one of his loved ones behind bars.

ALBERT Square residents are reeling following a fire in Kathy Beale’s café and the police are on the case.

One EastEnders favourite is targeted by the authorities and arrested, just as another character is on a warpath.

Desperate for cash and under pressure, Rocky Cotton resorted to a vile plan that has wreaked havoc throughout Walford.

Rocky set his wife Kathy Beale’s café ablaze in an attempt to file a fraudulent insurance claim which would give him enough money to pay loan shark Nish Panesar his dues.

But just as Rocky rubs hands next week on BBC One, keen to get the money he needs after a job well completed, the Beales are distraught as one resident’s life hangs in the balance.

Cindy Beale (played by Michelle Collins) is quick to blame Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) for the incident.

She storms back to Walford after spotting a warm moment between Kathy and her husband Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt).

Upon her return to Walford earlier this year, after she was believed to be dead, Cindy became involved in a heated altercation with Kathy, who was unable to put the past behind them.

The pair of women slapped one another in a furious display of rivalry as Kathy was shocked that her son Ian took Cindy back.

But could their relationship become even more sour?

Meanwhile, George Knight (Colin Salmon) comforts Cindy in The Vic and encourages her to head back to the hospital after sharing some home truths about her behaviour.

Back at the hospital, Cindy appears to have forgiven Kathy as she and Ian put the earlier events of the day behind them.

Unfortunately, it’s not long before the police arrive to arrest Kathy for her involvement in the fire – is there more to the situation than meets the eye?

Later on, news of Kathy’s arrest is rife on the Square as she remains at the police station having been questioned through the night.

Kathy refuses a solicitor but after hours of questioning, she starts to regret her decision.

Elsewhere, a guilty Rocky (Brian Conley) is accosted by his pal Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) who encourages him to come clean.

Rocky heads to the police station but will he really confess to the police?

Could Kathy take the fall for his actions?

Just as Kathy’s questioning continues, Cindy Beale spirals out of control and horrifies Ian with her comments.

Could she be up to something to make Kathy pay herself?

EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
