Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) has been harbouring an understandable hatred for Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell), and has made no attempt to hide it since her return to EastEnders earlier this year.

Faced with the possibility of losing another son after Peter Beale (Thomas Law) was left on a ventilator after trying to save Bobby from the café fire, Cindy lashed out at Bobby for murdering daughter Lucy back in 2014.

This caused Ian (Adam Woodyatt) to question whether their relationship was worth it, and soon Cindy was sleeping in the Queen Vic, instead of at home with him.

Realising how much Ian meant to her, Cindy, with some encouragement from ex-husband George Knight (Colin Salmon), decided that she needed to make amends with Bobby to get back in Ian’s good books.

Making her way to the hospital, she asked for a private word with Bobby, who very graciously agreed to hear her out.

As Cindy tried to explain why she had lashed out, Bobby pointed out that he already knew that she hated him for what he had done to Lucy, because he felt the same way about himself.

Cindy revealed that she too felt guilty for things she had done in her life, including not being there for Lucy, and suggested that they both agree to find a way to move on.

Having cleared the air with Bobby, Cindy then took her chances with Ian, who made it clear that her apology wasn’t enough to make up for wishing Bobby dead and running to her ex-husband while her son was in hospital.

When Cindy explained that she went to see George because he was the only person other than Ian that understood why she feels so guilty and ashamed.

She reiterated how sorry she was, insisting that she want them to be a family, and soon Ian had accepted her back into the fold.

However, there was still one person left to win over: Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth).

Cindy and Kathy have always had a volatile relationship, but in the spirit of building bridges, Cindy decided it was time to offer an olive branch to her former mother in law.

Thankfully, Kathy had also had time to reflect on her previous outburst, and offered an apology of her own.

It was then that Ian suggested that she and Rocky Cotton (Brian Conley) move back in to No.45, with Cindy making it clear that it was her idea.

Kathy was thrilled to accept the offer, and things only got better for the family as Peter woke up.

With everything seemingly back on track, how long will their happiness last?
