Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) reflects on his recent hospital trip in upcoming EastEnders episodes.

In the aftermath of Lola’s (Danielle Harold) death, Jay seriously struggled to cope. He turned to drink, drugs, paid to sleep in the same bed as a sex worker, and turned family members against him as a result of his behaviour.

After a terrible argument with Billy (Perry Fenwick), Jay got in his car and left Walford.

Ben (Max Bowden) and Billy soon discovered that Jay had been in an accident, but couldn’t find out a great deal of information at first due to not being directly related to him.

Eventually Ben was allowed to visit Jay.

He was worried sick that Jay had tried to take his own life, asking him outright when he woke up if that’s what led to the collision.

Jay reassured him that the crash was an accident, though he subsequently opened up about his mental health, revealing that he has thought about the possibility of taking his own life, though made clear that it’s not a ‘serious thought’.

In upcoming episodes, Rocky (Brian Conley) is busy searching for the funds to pay back his loan but Nish (Navin Chowdhry) has other ideas about a payment.

Nish reveals that he wants a car stolen from the car lot – and Rocky agrees.

However, after a conversation with a newly returned Jay about life following his near-fatal car accident, Rocky decides against it.

As focus turns back to Rocky, who prepares to come clean to Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) about his debt, where will this leave Jay?

Can he start to rebuild his life after such a horrific few months?
