Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) might be missing at sea but his spirit is very much alive and well in EastEnders next week as the spooky season arrives.

The beloved landlord of the Queen Vic, as viewers know, vanished at sea without a trace over the festive season last year, very much in the vein of Neighbours’ Harold Bishop.

His intentions for getting into the treacherous waves were honourable, as he set out to save his beloved soulmate Linda (Kellie Bright), after a pregnant Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) drove the pair of them into the water.

Mick, under Linda’s instruction, saved scheming Janine and their unborn child first before returning to the ocean in order to retrieve his one true love, unaware of the fact that she had safely made it to shore.

He never returned.

With Mick thought to be dead, Linda found it difficult to move on but, after some deliberation, she decided to keep hold of the Queen Vic, though sold her ex-hubby’s share to mum Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe), who moved with her new beau George Knight (Colin Salmon) and his two daughters.

The new family dynamic has helped Linda cope in the months since her ordeal but with Halloween on the horizon, her soulmate is again in her thoughts.

Mick and Linda, as fans will know, loved throwing a themed bash, with Halloween being one of their favourite times of the year, with the power couple often donning fancy dress and bringing the punters in in their droves.

With this being Linda’s first spooky season without Mick, you’d think she’d let it slide quietly by but, in typical Linda fashion, the landlady puts on a brave face and insists on going large.

A true icon.

Elaine, meanwhile, decides to offer her a hand in getting the party going and it certainly pays off, with the fancy dress as ever proving top notch.

Mick’s legacy lives on.

Linda, however, is set to get a scary shock when she enters the kitchen of the pub – but just what does she see?
