The Beale family have been waiting anxiously at Peter’s (Thomas Law) bedside in EastEnders, desperate for news from doctors about whether or not he will survive.

Peter was injured in the café fire started by Rocky Cotton (Brian Conley), when he ran in to save brother Bobby (Clay Milner Russell), and has been on a ventilator ever since.

In tonight’s (November 15) episode, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) was desperate to see her son after her row with Ian (Adam Woodyatt) the previous evening.

Unfortunately, neither Ian nor Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) were willing to let her see him, leaving poor Cindy devastated.

With no idea how Peter was doing, she had no choice but to go back to Albert Square and hope for the best.

When Kathy later arrived at the Queen Vic, she was appalled to see Cindy, and wasted no time in giving her another piece of her mind.

Devastated Cindy shot back that she was terrified of losing another child an that Kathy knew how much she wanted to see Peter, before running off in tears.

It was clear Kathy felt bad about lashing out, though not quite bad enough to apologise.

Later, Kathy was surprised when Ian rushed into the pub with news about Peter: Doctors thought that he would come round soon.

Thrilled, Kathy agreed to accompany him to the hospital, but landlord George Knight (Colin Salmon) thought that there was something wrong with this picture.

When he asked Ian if he was going to let Cindy know the good news, Ian pointed out that she wasn’t is problem anymore, following their breakup the previous evening.

Not wanting Cindy to be kept in the dark, George headed over to give her the good news.

As Cindy realised the damage that her outburst at Bobby had done, she lamented about how much the family must hate her if they were this determined to keep her away from the hospital.

Keen to help her build bridges, George encouraged her not to run away from her problems, and instead try and make amends.

Will Cindy be able to do it? And will Peter pull through like the doctors hope?
