Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) turns detective in EastEnders soon as he tries to find enough evidence that proves Karen (Lorraine Stanley) and Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) staged Albie’s kidnap.

The mother and son worked together a few weeks ago to take Albie from Sharon (Letitia Dean) and allow her to believe she had lost another son.

In reality, Albie was actually staying with Karen’s brother-in-law Malcolm and when the little lad returned, Sharon reunited with Keanu, unaware he was responsible for putting her through hell.

Coming up, Mitch (Roger Griffiths) is unimpressed to see Karen splashing the cash in the pub again, aware she is only loaded because of the ransom money from the kidnap.

While she is ordering drinks, Phil starts to get suspicious.

Mitch goes to confront Keanu and after, the troubled character ends up in an accident when his van hits Harvey’s (Ross Boatman) taxi.

Kat (Jessie Wallace) demands that Mitch pays for the damage, but Karen goes behind his back and settles the debt by using the stolen Mitchell money. Phil examines the notes Karen gave Kat and sees they are his marked bills.

And after setting Sam (Kim Medcalf) on the case, Phil gets the evidence he needs to prove that Karen and Keanu staged Albie’s kidnap.

Determined to prove his theory is correct, Phil heads to 23b but gets turned away by Felix (Matthew Morrison).

Later, he sneakily sends Tommy (Sonny Kendall) over and the youngster finds the money hidden under Karen’s bed.

Meanwhile, Sharon announces that she and Keanu will hold their wedding reception at the pub on Christmas Day, just before Phil bursts in to tell her that Karen and Keanu staged the kidnap for money.

But how on earth will Sharon react?

And what will this do to Karen’s upcoming exit?
