This article contains spoilers from Wednesday’s (January 24) EastEnders, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.

Evil rapist Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) managed to manipulate Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) into believing his version of events over Linda Carter’s (Kellie Bright), though she soon witnessed his true colours in recent EastEnders scenes.

The announcement of Dean and Gina’s relationship left Gina’s family horrified, with mum Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) going so far as to offer Dean £60,000 to leave Gina and the Square for good.

However, this offer was soon rejected, with Dean telling Gina all about it and causing a further rift between mother and daughter.

Instead of leaving, Dean invited Gina to spend the evening at his flat, where he prepared dinner for them both.

However, things soon took a turn when Gina once again made it clear that she wanted to take things slowly between them.

Dean was quick to make a jibe that he had gone to the effort of cooking her dinner, and that it had been better than their experience at McClunky’s the previous day, where Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) had made her feelings about their relationship very clear.

It soon became clear that Amy’s account of her mum Roxy Mitchell’s (Rita Simons) experience with Dean had been playing on Gina’s mind, as she began to question him on the situation.

As she wondered why Cindy would have paid him so much money just to leave her alone, and why so many people had been warning her off, she turned the attention back to her conversation with Amy about Roxy.

Dean was quick to jibe that Roxy was an unreliable witness given that she was ‘a massive coke head’, something that cut Gina deep given her own experience with addiction.

He also took jabs at young Amy, mocking her recent struggles with mental health, and questioning why Gina would take her word over his.

This was the final straw for her, and she made it clear that their relationship was over as she attempted to leave the flat.
