Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) managed to work her way back into brother Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) good books in recent EastEnders scenes – after agreeing to do his dirty work.

After making a dramatic return to Albert Square, Sam had been fighting to get back in favour with her brother, who had refused to help her out or give her a place to stay.

However, in recent scenes Phil told Sam that there was one way of winning back his trust, and that was by finding evidence to prove that the Taylors were behind Albie’s kidnapping.

Viewers will know that Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) was left inconsolable when she was led to believe that son Albie had been kidnapped, when all along he was safely in the care of Karen Taylor’s (Lorraine Stanley) brother-in-law Malcolm.

It was actually Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) who staged the kidnapping, after his plan to run away with Albie didn’t go to plan.

After collecting £50,000 in ransom money, Karen returned Albie home, and so far the truth behind the whole conspiracy has been kept under wraps. Until now, that is.

Karen had been making no secret of the fact that she had had a windfall, splashing out for huge bar tabs, extra breakfasts and new presents for the kids.

This was something that struck Phil as odd, but the most damning evidence against her was still to come.

When a distracted Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths) crashed his van into Harvey Monroe’s (Ross Boatman) taxi, he faced the Kat Slater’s (Jessie Wallace) wrath, though Karen was quick to pay her off.

This once again set off alarm bells for Phil, who decided to inspect the notes and soon uncovered a nasty surprise.

He revealed to Kat that the notes had the same markings he had left on the money he had given to Sharon to pay off Albie’s kidnappers.

When Kat wasn’t convinced that this was enough evidence to prove the Taylors were involved, Phil enlisted Sam’s help.

It wasn’t long before Sam came back with proof that Phil was right.

She put her phone down on the table in front of him and explained that she had done some social media stalking and found a picture on Malcolm’s socials, which showed him and Albie playing with sparklers.

She revealed that the photo was taken the day after Albie’s disappearance, meaning that he had been with Malcolm the whole time.

With Phil now aware of what really happened, how much longer can Keanu and Karen get away with it?
