Tameka Empson is a fan favourite among EastEnders viewers for her role as the bubbly Kim Fox, but she is set to take on a new role as she embarks on a new project early next year.
The actress is set to join the cast of the musical revival of The Big Life at the Stratford East Theatre next February, where she will be taking on the role of Mrs Aphrodite.
Tameka isn’t just set to star in the show, as she also co-wrote the musical.
The Big Life tells the story of four men who arrive in the UK from the West Indies full of expectations and aspirations, but get far more than they bargained for when they meet four women.
The musical is set to run from February 16 to March 30 2024, but there is no need for EastEnders fans to worry, as it has been confirmed to Metro.co.uk that Tameka will only be taking a short break from her role as Kim.
It has been a tough year on Albert Square for Kim, having crashed her car into the Argee Bhajee after uncovering sister Denise’s (Diane Parish) affair with Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara).
Kim looked down at texts on Denise’s phone and soon lost control of the vehicle when she swerved to avoid a pedestrian.
The crash left Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) seriously injured and Kim’s relationship with Howie (Delroy Atkinson) in jeopardy.
Thankfully, the pair have since reconciled, with Howie proving to be a pillar of strength through Kim’s prison ordeal and subsequent diagnosis with post traumatic stress disorder.
Though her confidence was knocked for a while, Howie managed to convince her to start making her online videos again, and soon the Kimfluencer we all know and love had returned.
Now though, she is much more open to her followers about mental health, and has even helped to fix things between Denzel and girlfriend Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd).
As Tameka embarks on her new project, fans can rest safe in the knowledge that she won’t be gone from EastEnders for long!
