Strictly Come Dancing fans say ‘sorry’ as they all share same reaction to Bobby Brazier gaffe

Strictly Come Dancing fans were left saying 'sorry' as they couldn't help but make the same point about Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell's Dirty Dancing lift during their routine

BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left saying ‘sorry’ as they all noticed the same thing about Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell’s latest dance.

The duo returned to the ballroom on Saturday night (December 2) for the BBC One dance contest’s Musicals week. It wasn’t just Musicals week, it was also the crucial quarter-finals – but this weekend, the couples didn’t have to battle for their place in the competition.

At the last minute, it was announced that Nigel Harman had to pull out of the programme with his dance partner Katya Jones due to a rib injury, landing him in A&E. This meant that only four couples were left in the competition, with two weeks to go until the final.

After Amanda Abbington pulled out earlier in the series, a decision was made to cancel this weekend’s dreaded dance-off and subsequent elimination. Among those still dancing was EastEnders star Bobby and his dance partner Dianne. They ended the show on a high note, with Bobby performing the classic Dirty Dancing lift with Australian dancer Dianne during their Strictly routine.

The pair danced the salsa to the tune (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life from the 1987 film, earning them a score of 34. Head judge Shirley Ballas said it was one of the “most difficult” routines they had tackled, and she praised how Brazier had led his dance partner. Anton Du Beke thought the lift was done with “great style and great panache”, while Craig Revel Horwood felt it had “failed” in his view because Buswell couldn’t raise her arms during the lift due to how the actor had lifted her.

It was this lift which caused a stir among Strictly viewers as they took to social media to comment, as one wrote: “The lift was meant to be iconic. Sorry I love bobby but… #Strictly.” Another posted: “Loved it but the lift was awkward #Strictly.”

A third tweeted: “THE lift did not work. It’s a shame, but it just didn’t work. #Strictly.” While another commented: “Eeek. so, er, you didn’t do the lift quite right? #strictly.” A fifth then exclaimed: “Oh Dianne looked wobbly on that lift. #strictly.” While another fan noted: “That lift was wobbly and you could see it on Dianne’s face. The camera caught her like: [woozy face emojis] #Strictly.”

But coming to Bobby’s defence, one viewer shared: “Give Bobby and break with the lift. He a young lad having to lift up Dianne who was worried to be much higher of the ground due to Bobby’s hight. The lift was fine. He was probably bricking it to not drop her. LIVE ON TV. #Strictly.”

Another typed: “Bobby and Dianne did a fabulous job! The guy had great hip action And good attempt at the lift! Bit of a wobble there but they got it! Loved watching them #strictly.” A third added: “Team Bobby and Dianne until the end. The lift may not have gone the way they expected but the rest of the dance was great. Really hoping they get into the finals after next week but it’s going to be tough. All the finalists are amazing! #Strictly.”
