Who is Bobby Brazier?
Bobby Brazier, born June 2, 2003, is an English actor and model, who is starring on the latest Strictly Come Dancing series.
As mentioned above, the star is also the son of the late Jade Goody and footballer-turned-TV presenter, Jeff Brazier.
Hailing from Essex, Bobby was only five-years-old when his mum Jade tragically passed away from cervical cancer.
Following the death of Jade, dad Jeff spent more than a decade trying to keep his children out of the public eye – banning them from red carpet events and even social media.
However, as Bobby got older, he began to step out of the shadow and into the spotlight – forging a successful career as a model and landing a role on the long-running soap, EastEnders.
And it is a move that has delighted fans of Bobby’s late mum Jade, who see so much of the bubbly South London mum in her eldest son.
What modelling has Bobby Brazier done?
Bobby first entered the world of modelling in 2019 and has been in demand ever since.
He made his mark on the fashion world after walking for Dolce & Gabbana at Milan Fashion Week.
Then in early 2020, Bobby walked the red carpet at the prestigious Tommy Hilfiger event at London Fashion Week.
Other big-name brands that the model has worked with include Versace, Moschino and Superdry.
He previously revealed that he stumbled into the industry by chance after getting into trouble at school.
In an Instagram Q&A, he explained that he had a meeting at school after acting up, adding: “So before I go, I go Costa for a little prep talk with my dad and then when we leave @cesarpin is chasing me down the street asking me if I’m a model.”
When did Bobby join EastEnders?
Bobby made his EastEnders debut in 2022, taking on the role of Freddie Slater – a mischievous member of the square’s long-standing Slater family.
Starring as Mo Slater’s son, Bobby’s character Freddie “has a heart of gold but can’t help getting into mischief”.
Upon joining the soap, Bobby said: “I’m really excited to be joining the cast of EastEnders – so far it’s been perfect.
“Everybody has been so beautiful to me and made settling in easier than I could’ve hoped.
“Stepping into the acting world has always been a vision of mine and doing that with EastEnders as a Slater is a blessing, I’m very grateful.
“Loving every minute of Freddie so far and can’t wait to see what’s in store for him in Walford.”
In September 2023, Bobby won the Rising Star gong at the National Television Awards for his role in EastEnders.
What has Bobby Brazier said about his mum Jade Goody?
Bobby’s famous mum Jade sadly passed away aged 27 in 2009, when he was just five-years-old.
She rose to fame on Big Brother and became a household name but tragically died of cervical cancer.
In March 2023, the actor and model opened up on losing his beloved mum.
Bobby candidly admitted that he was too young to have any long-lasting memories of his mother after her death.
In a chat with ST Style, Bobby opened up on the passing of his mum and told the publication: “Not a whole lot. Maybe memories of memories. I’m always being told about her and what she meant to people.
“I guess I know my mum through other people’s memories of my mum.”
Bobby also admitted that he still had belief that his mum was around as a guardian to watch over him.
He added of her lasting presence: “Maybe as a guide, maybe as an angel, maybe as a teacher, maybe as a protector”.
Does Bobby have any siblings?
Bobby Brazier does have a sibling – younger brother Freddie.
Freddie is just a year younger than the EastEnders star and the pair are often seen posting photos together.
Born in September 2004, Freddie was just four when mum Jade passed away.
Following in his brother’s footsteps, Freddie also works as a fashion model.
In 2021, he made his modelling debut for HERO magazine.
