BBC EastEnders confirms two new characters as spoilers reveal death news and huge discovery
EastEnders viewers will see two new characters debut on the BBC soap next week, as the Mitchells are in for quite the reunion after some sad death news
EastEnders will air the arrival of two new characters next week, as Walford residents say farewell to another.
Aunt Sal’s sad passing brings the Mitchells together next week, as they attend her funeral. The Mitchells will find out about Sal’s death in upcoming scenes, after actress Anna Karen’s death last February.
The soap favourite tragically passed away aged 85 in a house fire at her home. Next week, the soap honours the actress and pays tribute to her and her iconic character at Sal’s funeral.
The service sees the arrival of Sal’s husband Harold Martin, played by actor David Sterne. David takes on the role and features in scenes with Phil Mitchell, Sam Mitchell, Alfie Moon and other mourners.
He also reduces Phil to tears with his eulogy to his late wife Sal. But Harold isn’t the only arrival, with drama soon following another new character.

While spoilers don’t confirm anything about Billy Mitchell’s estranged father Stevie Mitchell for the big episodes, a recent press release confirmed he would be joining as part of Aunt Sal’s farewell. According to cast images, the character attends the funeral or at least tries to, with him shown alongside Phil in a suit.
Now, new spoiler images for next week show the character, played by actor Alan Ford, in scenes with Phil at the church. Viewers will have to tune in to see what drama he brings, and how the Mitchells react to his passing.
It comes after spoilers teased a possible return for Phil’s brother Grant Mitchell. Grant is mentioned in an episode next week, as Sam makes a big discovery at the funeral about her and her siblings.

She finds out that Aunt Sal has left the three of them £100,000 in inheritance. The news leaves Sam in shock, with her completely unaware she’d been left any money. She confronts Phil and demands her share of the money, but he refuses to hand it over.
As for Grant, could he learn of this inheritance money and head back to Walford to claim what’s his? It’s not to say Grant doesn’t already know about it, and perhaps Phil has already transferred the money over to him.
But with Grant being mentioned again, fans will no doubt continue to call for the soap legend to return. Could his aunt’s death be what brings him home, after he was last on screen in 2016? Might he rock up and demand the money from Phil?
