EastEnders’ Dean Gaffney ‘catapulted’ into air after being run over by Chelsea footballer
EastEnders star Dean Gaffney is said to have ended up in hospital with a broken collarbone after being run over by Chelsea footballer Wesley Fofana on a night out
Dean Gaffney broke his collar bone after being run over on a night out by a £70 million football star.
The EastEnders actor was “catapulted” into the air after being hit by Wesley Fofana’s Lamborghini. He was taken to hospital while Fofana, 23, was breathalysed at the scene. The incident took place on the King’s Road in Chelsea, West London. Fofana passed the breathalyser check and was allowed on his way.
The French international was deemed to not be at fault for the incident. While Dean only found out he was struck by the footballer later. It has been claimed Dean was trying to get a black cab when he was hit by the sports car in the midriff, “catapulting him into the air”.

A source told The Sun: “He was out cold and his mates were all really worried. The emergency services gave him pain relief and he was patched up in hospital. At the time, he did not realise who the driver was but was told later that it was Wesley Fofana. Dean’s a Brentford fan and joked about a star of a rival club taking out a well-known fan of their neighbours!”
Dean, who is best known for his role as Robbie Jackson in the BBC soap, is said to have not spoken about the December 2022 incident because it “was not anybody’s fault”. Last year Dean opened up to The Mirror where he revealed he felt lucky to be alive after medical checks for I’m A Celebrity flagged up warning signs for bowel cancer.
He took part in the all-stars contestant in 2023 that took place in South Africa. He has since opened up on what doctors discovered in tests in 2020, while examining him ahead of a possible appearance in ITV’s show at Gwrych Castle in North Wales. In an exclusive interview, Dean said: “There is no doubt I’m A Celeb and its medical team saved my life. I might not be here today if it wasn’t for them finding what they did.”
He was shocked when doctors found a number of polyps in his large intestine and said he needed an immediate operation. Dean said: “Within hours I was in a hospital gown and under general anaesthetic and they took it out.” When he came round, the doctor told him: “Had you not come to us today, in three years that could have turned to bowel cancer. You’ve been very lucky.”
Last year Dean was supported by friends and followers after he paid an emotional tribute to his mum following her tragic death. Taking to Instagram, Dean posted a picture of his mum’s funeral booklet and wrote: “Gone but NEVER forgotten… Sunrise: 23/12/53. Sunset: 13/08/23. I miss and love you Mum, today, tomorrow and forever. X.”
Dean announced his mother’s death on social media in August and said he was “simply broken.” His post contained two images of his late mother and in one he is seen kissing her head. He penned: “I am simply broken to share that my beautiful selfless mother Marian has sadly passed away. I was, am and always will be a mummy’s boy so this news has completely floored me. I spoke to her every day and in some ways I’m glad I’m the one that found her asleep.”
