Strictly Come Dancing viewers were thrilled, as Bobby Brazier made it through another week on the BBC series.

He and his pro dance partner Dianne Buswell were confirmed to be in the quarter-finals next weekend, after an incredible performance on Saturday night. The same could not be said for Angela Scanlon, who was voted off the show by the judges alongside her pro dance partner Carlos Gu.

She’d lost the dreaded dance-off against Layton Williams and pro dance Nikita Kuzmin. Amid the sad goodbye, viewers were thrilled to learn Bobby and Dianne would perform again after host Tess Daly confirmed they were in it for another week.

The EastEnders star and Dianne took on the Couple’s Choice this week, and their song was Maxwell’s This Woman’s Work. Earlier in the week, Bobby vowed to do the routine justice as he spoke of what the song meant to him, and revealed the story behind his latest dance.

He revealed there “would be tears” with Dianne also admitting she had struggled to look at Bobby during rehearsals, given how emotional it was for them. He told how the story of the dance reflected his own journey, as he shared the lyrics of the chosen song “touched him at his core”.

Bobby’s mother Jade tragically died from cervical cancer in 2009 aged 27, when Bobby was just five years old. On Saturday night, Bobby revealed he wanted to pay tribute to his “superhero” mum, saying her death “changed his life completely”.

Calling her a “superhero”, Bobby was determined to pull off the tribute for his mum, and he soon left viewers “sobbing” with his and Dianne’s routine. His father Jeff Brazier and brother Freddie, watching in the audience, also fought back tears over the moving routine.

Judges Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke began to choke up as they both gave their thoughts, but they were not alone. Viewers watching at home said they were “sobbing” as the routine aired, and Bobby spoke about his late mother.

On Sunday night, Bobby was saved by the public and did not have to face the dreaded dance-off. Just a week earlier, the actor missed being eliminated, as he faced Angela Rippon in the bottom two, with Angela sent home by the judges.

As he and Dianne found out they were through to the quarter-finals next weekend, they cheered and thanked viewers. Viewers were also celebrating, thrilled for the pair after such an emotional performance.

Taking to X, one fan said: “Tough week but I’m so glad Bobby & Diane will dance again, they are such a positive pairing,” as another agreed: “thank goodness bobby and dianne were safe.” A third added: “really happy for Bobby and Diane.”

The comments kept coming too, with one reading: “BOBBY AND DIANNE QUARTER FINALISTS I KNOW THATS RIGHTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!” and another said: “Bobby and Diane are quarter finalists!” Bobby and Dianne addressed the result, with Dianne saying she was “proud” of him.
