EastEnders fans demand ‘vile, wasted’ character is axed from soap as Freddie’s grilled by cops & forced to leave Walford

EASTENDERS fans have demanded a ‘vile, wasted’ character is axed from the soap – as Freddie was grilled by the police and forced to leave Walford.

At the end of Wednesday’s episode, Freddie – played by Bobby Brazier – was arrested for attempted murder after attacking Theo Hawthorne when he caught him trying to rape Stacey Slater.

Tonight’s episode saw Freddie questioned by police at the station, with Jean Slater on hand as his appropriate adult to help him through the grilling.

Freddie was later released on bail pending further investigations, and Jean advised Freddie that he should go and stay with his mum, Little Mo, until things calm down.

While Freddie was reluctant to go, he eventually agreed that he needed the head space, and after making amends with best friend Bobby Beale and saying goodbye to his family, Freddie headed off in the taxi with a smile on his face.

EastEnders viewers were sad to see the character go, especially as a number of them wish it was a different Walford resident leaving.

It seems Bernie Taylor – played by Clair Norris – has got a few viewers’ backs up in recent weeks, and they’ve shared their displeasure with the character on social media.

After Bernie made a catty remark about the situation with the Slaters in the cafe in tonight’s episode, one EastEnders viewer tweeted: “I can’t stand Bernie since she started working in the cafe. Turned into a right old busy body, and not the amusing type!”

Another raged: “Whatever #eastenders have done to Bernie, please can they undo it??? She’s such a vile, waste of a character now.”

A third added: “Bernie is so bloody judgemental for one so young.”

Meanwhile a fourth recently commented: “I can’t stand bernie anymore.”

Freddie’s departure coincides with Bobby, 20, taking time out from the soap’s hectic filming schedule to focus on his participation in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
