EastEnders spoilers: Upsetting scenes as Gina Knight declares she believes rapist Dean Wicks over Linda Carter
Linda Carter’s (Kellie Bright) life was turned upside down when she was raped by Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) in EastEnders back in 2014, and his return to Albert Square has only caused her more trauma.
Since his return, Dean has done nothing but torment Linda, who has spent years trying to rebuild her life, and soon his actions led to him being punched by George Knight (Colin Salmon) and falling down the stairs as a result.
With Dean threatening to tell the police that George had deliberately attacked him and George already on a suspended sentence for GBH, Linda agreed to go along with Dean’s demands that she tell him she had lied about the rape.
Horrifying scenes showed Linda repeat Dean’s words back to him, as she falsely confessed to lying about being raped to save her relationship with Mick.
Little did she know, Dean had recorded their conversation, and after biding his time, played it in the Queen Vic for everyone to hear.
Though Whitney Dean and Jean Slater (Shona McGarty and Gillian Wright) assured Linda the next day that Dean’s actions hadn’t changed anyone’s opinions of her or what happened, that wasn’t quite true.
Recent scenes have seen Linda’s soon to be step-sister Gina Knight (Francesca Henry) seemingly sympathising with Dean, and the recording left her conflicted.
As she confided in sister Anna Knight (Molly Rainford), she revealed that because Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) had already convinced Dean not to go to the police about George, Linda had no reason to lie on the recording.
Anna was understandably horrified, and made it clear that she was totally on Linda’s side, telling Gina that she ‘didn’t like her very much right now’.
Later, when Linda asked Anna who’s side Gina was on, Anna swore that she had Linda’s back, unaware that she had actually gone to pay Dean a visit.
Though Dean told Gina to leave him alone, she revealed that she had come to check if he had heard from daughter Jade, who had learnt the truth about him the previous day.
Dean explained that Jade had enough to deal with with her illness, and explained to Gina what things had been like for her growing up.
He lamented that because she is so ill, every moment he can spend with her is precious, but now that she thinks he is a rapist he may never get the chance to see her again.
As he bemoaned that he had no one left, Gina revealed that she was there for him, and confided that she believed him over Linda.
What will this mean for Linda and Gina’s relationship going forward, and could this have put Gina in harms way?
