EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw teases shock Halloween story for Linda Carter

"She gets one hell of a surprise that she doesn't bargain for..."

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw has hinted that Linda Carter could be facing a horror Halloween this year, as she faces up to going through the holiday without husband Mick.

Mick has been missing, and presumed dead, since Christmas Day last year, when he seemingly drowned while trying to save Linda after a horrifying car crash which resulted in their car falling into the sea.

Speaking to Inside SoapEastEnders producer Clenshaw has now revealed that Halloween will be a particularly difficult time for Linda – and that she’ll receive a major shock.

“Poor Linda’s struggling this Halloween as it’s the first one without Mick; obviously she wasn’t with Mick this time last year, but Halloween was very much their thing, and something they did together in the Vic,” he explained.

“So, she’s trying her best to make a go of things, but she gets one hell of a surprise that she doesn’t bargain for…”

As the soap heads towards Christmas and that dramatic flash-forward scene arriving in real time, viewers are likely to see more of Linda, as she is one of the six Walford women who are somehow involved in the mystery Christmas death of a currently unidentified male character.

Linda has already faced plenty of change this year, as her mum Elaine Peacock unexpectedly moved into the Queen Vic with her boyfriend George Knight and his two daughters, Anna and Gina.

The family have since been caught up in Cindy Beale’s surprise return to Walford, with Cindy wanting to reconnect with ex George and their daughters, while Linda became embroiled in a feud with George.

With so much drama surrounding Linda, will her involvement in the Christmas death start to become more clear soon?

EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
