Strictly Come Dancing pro Dianne Buswell sparked fears she has split with her boyfriend Joe Sugg after she became emotional following their week four performance.

The auburn Aussie, 34, struggled to hold back tears after Saturday night’s (October 14) stellar show where she and her celebrity partner Bobby Brazier closed out week four with their fierce Tango to David Bowie’s hit single, Fashion. The EastEnders hunk looked nothing short of sensational in a bright red ensemble which celebrated his toned physique as he dominated the dancefloor.

But pro dancer and the soap star, who first appeared in Walford last year as Freddie Slater, struggled to hide their disappointment on the BBC One ballroom show after they failed to impress the judges with their latest routine. Head judge Shirley Ballas said the TV star had a “lovely flex in his knees” and praised his “strong start” but critiqued him for his “inconsistent frame”.

Meanwhile, Anton Du Beke praised the actor for his hold but argued his routine needed “more stillness and sharpness” to add an extra bit of punch to it. Craig Revel-Horwood said their overall performance had a “lack of focus and intent”.

Great dance but not sold for me” while Motsi Mabuse concluded: “I agree with Mr Craig, lost entertainment factor and left the dance to bare.” She encouraged the couple to “push it to the next level” with the next routine.

After receiving their difficult feedback, the pair headed up to the dressing room to chat to Claudia Winkleman where they both became visibly emotional. When they was asked what it was like closing the show, Bobby confessed: “It’s been emotional. So, so emotional. All week. But closing the show is a great privilege.”

Dianne added: “It was really difficult. I pushed you [Bobby] musically. That song is not easy to hear and you worked so hard to be able to hear the music.” As her voice broke, she added: “But he’s just been a massive rock this week so thank you,” before she embraced her partner while visibly fighting back tears.

Claudia then placed a comforting hand on Dianne’s shoulders while fans at home flooded to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their concerns online. Many speculated that her emotional response could be due to problems in her relationship with Joe Sugg, who she fell in love when he competed on the show back in 2018.

One user penned: “Bobby has been a rock this week… I hope no issue with Dianne and Joe Sugg. This show really does test relationships.” Another asked: “Has something happened this week? Is Dianne okay? Definitely don’t think it was about the dance.”

Meanwhile, a third picked up on their strange “energy” on the show, posting: “Bobby and Dianne were a strange one tonight, usually love watching them dance, but the energy was just off. They both looked so sad and Dianne kept calling Bobby her rock… I hope whatever they’re going through, it gets better soon.”

It comes after Bobby admitted he is “falling in love” with his pro partner as they compete in the hugely popular ballroom show. He told The Mirror at the Pride of Britain Awards last week: “I could speak about Dianne all day. She’s just a diamond – you know what, I’m falling in love with her. She’s just great. I feel very lucky.”

Viewers will have to stay tuned to see if the dancing duo have done enough to secure a place in next week’s show following the public’s vote.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday and Sunday from 6.30pm or watch it on catch-up on BBC iPlayer.
